From the bustling cosmopolitan city of Istanbul to the endless valleys and rock sculptures in Cappadocia. The beaches of Antalya, the hot air balloons of Cappadocia and the beautiful mosques of Istanbul, Turkey is so beautiful. To be honest I had a certain image of Turkey (think all-inclusive resorts). But I came back completely from that image, Turkey is so much more, and a perfect backpack destination!
Turkey’s nature is beautiful and perfect for hiking! I know few countries where the locals are so hospitable, helpful and kind. In addition, I absolutely love Turkish food! Mezze, clay pot (food prepared in a clay pot that is broken open when served), kebab, gözleme (filled flatbread), simit (bagels) and of course baklava. Even as a vegetarian there is always plenty of choices. I was also surprised at how well you can do Turkey on a budget! So be sure to read the budget blog below. Did you know that you can also ski in Turkey? There are quite high mountains in the country.
