"Medical Equipment Assistance Program" of CCEP helps the poor patients

(15th June 2022) The CCEP Foundation has established a new program, named “Medical Equipment Assistance Program”, to provide the patients with much-needed “Oxygen Concentrators” we are working with a team of specialists to meet the urgent needs of impoverished patients.

The first phase is to provide “oxygen concentrators” to patients who need short- and long-term help. An oxygen concentrator is a medical device that provides sufficient oxygen for additional needs. The 3 main categories of need are: patients with lung disease, palliative care patients, and motor neuron disease patients.

Lim Chin Chuan, trustee and vice-chairman of CCEP Foundation, said that the implementation of this plan in just one week is due to the participation of four senior specialist doctors, which including Prof. Dr. Loh Ee Chin (Consultant Palliative Medicine), Dr. Loh Tain Chee (General Physician), Dr. Fakhriah Binti Abu Bakar (General Physician) and Dr. Eg Kah Peng (Paediatric Respiratory Specialist). They are the consultant physicians for this program. Those who apply for an oxygen concentrator can only be loaned out after review, and applicants must be recommended by a doctor(s). Priority is given to financially challenged and urgent needs.

Currently renting this machine is uncommon due to the high rental costs because of the short supply of the machine. Also, the high cost is a concern for the hospital to increase the number of machines. Each Oxygen Concentrator costs approximately RM3,700. It can provide uninterrupted use with a lifespan of more than 5 years. and the oxygen generator can be recycled continuously.

Lim Chin Chuan said, the first phase of the CCEP Foundation plans to raise 20 oxygen generators, we hope to help as many patients as possible, especially those vulnerable groups who are in urgent need. Thanks to your generous donation, we call on everyone to support us in this meaningful program.

This program is only available to patients from low-income families.
Patients requiring equipment lends must provide a doctor’s recommendation.
